A Female Driver, Guaranteed When You Book Ahead
High Wycombe Taxis is a woman-owned company, and a female driver is not an afterthought here — it is the reason a great many of our customers came to us in the first place.
If you would prefer a female driver, tell us when you book and we will confirm one for you. Pre-book your journey and a female driver is guaranteed. That is a commitment, not a best-effort: if we cannot allocate a female driver to your booking, we will tell you at the time you book rather than let you find out when the car turns up.
For same-day and immediate pickups we will always try, and we often manage it, but we will not promise what the shift pattern cannot deliver. Booking ahead is what turns a preference into a guarantee.
Who Asks for a Female Driver
Nobody has to explain why. But these are the journeys we are asked about most often:
- Women travelling alone, particularly late at night, home from a station, or back from a night out.
- School runs. Parents arranging regular transport for a child, especially where the child travels unaccompanied, very often ask for the same female driver each time.
- Elderly passengers and hospital appointments, where a familiar face matters as much as the journey does.
- Faith and cultural preference. For a lot of families in and around High Wycombe this is not a preference at all — it is the difference between being able to book a taxi and not.
- Early airport transfers, where a 4am pickup from a quiet street is a great deal easier with a driver you have already been told about by name.
How the Booking Works
It is deliberately simple.
- Say so when you book. On the phone, or in the notes if you book online. Twenty-four hours’ notice is ideal; more for regular or school-run bookings.
- We confirm the driver, not just the car. You will be told who is collecting you before the day.
- Regular journeys keep the same driver wherever the rota allows. For school runs and courses of hospital appointments we treat that as the default rather than a special request.
- The fare is the same. There is no premium for asking. Our fixed airport fares and local rates do not change.
If your plans move, ring us on 01494 702008 and we will move the booking. What we would rather avoid is finding out on the doorstep, because at that point the honest answer may be that there is no female driver free.
Licensed, Insured and Checked
Every driver who works with us holds a current private hire licence and has been through an enhanced DBS check, as the law requires of all licensed private hire drivers. Vehicles are licensed, insured for private hire and inspected on the schedule the licensing authority sets.
That is the floor, not the selling point. The selling point is that when you ask for a woman to drive you, you get one, and you know her name before she arrives.
